Here's a vintage tailpiece for one of the import L5 or Johnny Smith guitars.  It is good quality and a heavy piece weighing at 10 ounces.  Underneath it looks like chrome plate...on top it looks like kind of a polished nickel. (Possibly the original nickel underplate?)  It might have had a different plating on top at one time?  Not sure. But in any event it is a quality piece and looks good...could be used for matching nickel hardware, or could be replated gold. Original badge is removable with 4 screws. The hinge portion hangs down over the rim 2 and 5/8ths inches....correct for the slightly thinner Johnny Smith type body...but is long enough to work well on an L5 too.
